Blair Davie returns with empowering new single ‘Coming of Age’.

After the success of their recent single ‘Prague’—a fan favorite praised by artists like Teddy Swims, Cian Ducrot, and Bastille—Scottish singer-songwriter Blair Davie, an IVORS Rising Star nominee and Amazon Step Up Fund awardee, is back with their new track, ‘Coming of Age’.

Blair Davie’s latest single, ‘Coming of Age’, is a masterful blend of vulnerability, relatability, and charm. Hot on the heels of their fan-favourite track ‘Prague’, this new release dives deep into the emotional highs and lows of self-discovery while adding a cheeky twist that keeps things refreshingly grounded. It’s a song that feels as cinematic as it does personal—an anthem perfectly at home on a coming-of-age movie soundtrack.

Produced by Thom Lewis (who’s produced Sam Fender’s entire catalogue of acclaimed releases), ‘Coming Of Age’ continues that rich and spirited indie-pop aesthetic Davie has found a kinship with lately. Adopting a bright and euphoric energy as it plays, their newest endeavour builds upon the illustrious foundations and acclaim they have been receiving so far this year.

Speaking about the new tune, they said,

"I was lucky enough to spend a couple days back in June, writing with Benjamin Francis Leftwich, Jamie Squire and Derrick Southerland. I think we had written 3 or 4 songs together already over those 2 days, most of them were ballads. We took a break and went to David’s Deli, an amazing Lebanese place for lunch on the corner by the studio. Derrick asked me if I ever write any songs with tempo which means a bit on the faster side. I told him that I don’t often do upbeat songs because I worry that the emotion can get lost and so he set us that challenge of writing a song that still hits the heart but can make you dance at the same time. It was an exciting juxtaposition for sure.”

Lyrically, ‘Coming of Age’ balances raw honesty with a playful edge, capturing the bittersweet complexity of growing up and finding oneself. Davie’s emotive vocals bring each line to life, effortlessly navigating between moments of introspection and cheeky self-awareness. The production enhances the track’s cinematic feel, with a dynamic build that mirrors the emotional depth of the story.

Relatable and heartfelt, ‘Coming of Age’ feels like a shared experience, resonating with anyone who’s grappled with the journey of self-acceptance. Blair Davie has crafted not just a song, but a soundtrack to personal growth, proving once again why they are an exciting voice in modern music.
