Nashville indie artist Charlotte Chipembere released her latest single, ‘Halloween’, on October 25, 2024. This haunting ballad blends the atmospheric qualities of Frank Ocean’s ‘Ivy’ with the raw emotion of Olivia Rodrigo’s ‘Vampire’. Through themes of nostalgia, love, and longing, Charlotte delves into the pain of being with someone who regrets cheating on their first love. She poses a poignant question in the lyrics: if she had been his first love, would he have acted differently? This haunting reflection gives rise to a deep sense of insecurity, as she wonders whether any woman, including herself, could ever be truly worthy of his loyalty. Charlotte speaks on the song:

“I’m a hopeless romantic. I fall hard and fast. Halloween is my favorite holiday and in Highschool I dreamed that I would have my first kiss at a Halloween party. That didn’t happen, but I met someone who I wish it did with and as you can tell in the song, his past was complicated.”
