Ella Jinks returns with soft new single ‘This Fall’.
Following the success of her acclaimed debut EP ‘Conversations’ and the heartfelt single ‘Maybe In Another Life’, which earned a spot on BBC Introducing earlier this year, London-based singer-songwriter Ella Jinks returns with her delicate new track, ‘This Fall’.
Co-written with the renowned Katie Melua, This Fall builds on the rich, emotive sound Ella Jinks has been shaping throughout her career. With a wistful piano accompaniment highlighting her stunning vocals, she delivers one of her most poignant and powerful tracks yet.
Speaking about the new single, she said,
“I wrote ‘This Fall’ back in 2022 with Katie. It’s a song about understanding the importance of embracing pain in difficult situations rather than numbing ourselves entirely. Through the writing process, I realised that when we suppress sadness, we also suppress our capacity for joy and so it’s actually better to fully experience our emotions as they come, rather than burying them only for them to resurface later.”
At just 24, Ella Jinks embodies a captivating duality that sets her apart as an artist. Her voice, rich and resonant, carries a depth that feels far beyond her years, effortlessly evoking emotion and connection. It’s a tone that commands attention, brimming with a sense of lived experience and introspection.
Equally striking is her timeless approach to songwriting. Rooted in a bluesy, soulful indie-folk style, her music echoes the influences of icons like Laura Marling, Joni Mitchell, and Lianne La Havas, yet remains distinctly her own. Her melodies feel classic and enduring, while her lyrics speak to the universal struggles and revelations of young adulthood. Themes of self-discovery, embracing one’s flaws, and navigating the complexities of growth form the foundation of her artistry.
Ella Jinks masterfully bridges the gap between the wisdom of an old soul and the raw vulnerability of youth, making her a truly unique voice in today’s music landscape.
