Jordan Walker shares supercut of first love on ‘on the run’.

Beginning to trademark his own sound of minimalist bedroom pop, Jordan Walker appears to be onto a winning recipe on latest single ‘on the run’.

Listeners have heard brief tastes of the 24-year-old over the last four years with a string of singles. The pensive ‘silence, our favourite song’ came in 2020 and has pulled in tens of thousands of streams while the piano-led ‘sun goes down’ followed two years later.

Those tracks showcased a songwriter finding his sound, drawing on influences from pop culture and a musical theatre background. Fast forward to 2024 and Walker has worked out where his artist project stands.

With a debut coming-of-age EP set for release in January, the first track from that body of work came earlier this year in ‘viole(n)t’. A tender take on heartbreak, that airy single cleared out the cobwebs to make way for ‘on the run’.

On the new single, the artist provides a supercut look back on a first love. From summertime walks to blowing small fortunes on seeing The 1975, Walker steps out with a newfound intimacy. He goes on to paint the picture of nervous kisses under kitchen lights with a nod to Troye Sivan hit ‘My My My’. Walker told under the radar:

“It’s my first queer love song, an ode to my lover and how even a relationship that’s down the line can still feel so new, exciting and precious, almost as if the honeymoon period never ended, It’s about running away with your lover, escaping the world and creating a space just for you two to keep falling more in love. I hope it takes people back to the day they fell in love.”
