montykeates starts afresh on the electrifying ‘EASY’.

montykeates is the new kid on the block. Transitioning from TikTok stardom to an artist in his own right, his fourth single ‘EASY’ is a curveball that lands with a startling charisma.

Since debuting last year with ‘PANIC!’, the self-proclaimed ‘internet nuisance’ began playing with a modern rock sound landing somewhere between the worlds of Nova Twins and 100 gecs. Those tracks pulled in tens of thousands of streams but now montykeates is changing things up.

Appropriately, that takes place on a single which looks to turn a fresh page. “Some goodbyes are well overdue,” the songwriter explains when talking about ‘EASY’.

This song is an ode to showing someone the door and getting on with life like it never happened, I want people to turn it up and wipe their brains of any baggage that’s holding them back.”

There are elements of those first releases on ‘EASY’, but montykeates also leans into a new sound. While we want to stay cautious when employing the overused ‘hyperpop’ label, the singer’s latest track certainly strays more into that world with a trendy production that feels incredibly à la mode - if ‘hyperrock’ is a thing, this is it.

The two-and-a-half minute track blares into life with brashful electronic production which doesn’t let up as the singer launches full-throttle into a break-up. By the time the single comes to an end, the rising star is at a raucous high as he asks, “Am I cared for enough?”.
