PIEN embraces authenticity in new song ‘The Cover’.
In PIEN's latest single, ‘The Cover’, she sheds the facade and embraces her true self, signalling the end of conforming to others' expectations.
‘The Cover’ is rich with intricate details, featuring bird chirps and the sound of footsteps—both captured by PIEN herself on her iPhone—alongside delicate backing vocals. Long-time collaborator Joshua Guy returns, handling production and playing keys, while Henry Wright makes a comeback, adding a gorgeous French horn arrangement. The track is an ideal indie-pop power ballad, complete with PIEN’s signature catchy lyrics and unforgettable melodies.
PIEN on the new single and what it means to her:
“As a woman, I always felt I needed to put on a mask to please others, especially men. When I was a teenager it was easier to play the pretty dumb blonde than sharing my interests and knowledge about art, music and history. I thought this way men and people would like me better if I was charming, funny and not too serious.”
Currently, PIEN is hard at work on her highly anticipated debut album, set for release in June 2025. She's already made her mark on the London music scene, with performances at iconic venues like The Camden Club, 93 Feet East, and The Katzpace.
