Sarah Close’s ‘Forgiveness Is My Weakness’ - A journey through heartache.
Sarah Close releases her new EP ‘Forgiveness Is My Weakness’: A raw, emotional rollercoaster with powerful storytelling. Throughout this project, Sarah's increased confidence in her craft is evident, showcasing her clear growth as an artist.
For the The Isle of Wight/London based UK singer/songwriter and producer Sarah Close - June 21, 2024, marks a significant day as she unveils her highly anticipated latest single, "Best Day Of My Life”, alongside her brand new EP, "Forgiveness is My Weakness”. With the release, Close continues her flawless 2024 double EP campaign, and her tradition of delivering beautiful, empowering, relatable and uplifting pop anthems.
Close reflects on the inspiration behind "Best Day Of My Life”, stating, "I think a funny part of saying goodbye and grieving a relationship is the way your perspective on it shifts as time passes. Something that at the time felt like the worst thing EVER, a few years later can be something you’re grateful for and feel happy it happened. “Best Day Of My Life” is a song that recognises just that! It’s a lighter, sillier moment I longed for amongst my other sadder breakup songs, and it’s me being thankful I didn’t end up with what I thought I wanted."
Produced by Close herself, “Best Day Of My Life” is a cheeky, empowering and uplifting pop anthem, which from the get-go, has you deeply engrossed and involved - and drawing listeners into a timeless narrative of celebration and empowerment.
Close shares her intentions behind the EP: "I wanted to chronicle the stages of a breakup, similar to the stages of grief. The end of a relationship brings a whirlwind of emotions, making it confusing and hard to navigate. There’s heartbreak and sadness in ‘Did It Have To Be Her?’, denial and attempts at logic in ‘Forgive Or Forget’, self-love in ‘Love Ain’t Meant to Hurt’, defiance in ‘Justify’, and gratefulness in ‘Best Day of My Life’.”
Close hopes the EP serves as validation for the conflicting feelings that accompany the end and healing stages of a relationship. "These songs were therapeutic for my situation, and I’d like to hope that there’s something that everyone could connect with in this universal experience. Maybe it might even help someone or make them feel seen," she adds.
After seven years of following Sarah's journey as a singer/songwriter, this project stands out as her most authentic yet. It's Sarah at her most vulnerable, showcasing a rawness and honesty that is sure to deeply resonate with her fans. This is the first time she has presented her music so unapologetically, fully embracing her true self. The emotional depth and personal storytelling in this project highlight her growth as an artist.
