Charming Minimalism: Sehruhtonin's 'Fade Out'.

Sehruhtonin’s song ‘Fade Out’ is a slow, dreamy number, reminiscent of something off the ‘Twilight: New Moon’ soundtrack. The vision is clear: an introspective, Bon Iver-adjacent, atmosphere-setting song, featuring vague yet personal lyricism about being ‘[sent] to sea’.

This track definitely shows lots of promise, particularly in its melodies and harmonies. The low-key and understated nature of this song is beautiful and haunting, perfect for your autumn playlist. While the minimalism on this track is charming, experimenting with fuller production could support Sehruhtonin’s songwriting further. I’m excited to see what she has in store next, because it really could go in any direction, with her versatile vocals and talent for creating a vibe in tow.

The Imogen Heap quality of the vocals compliments the ballad form, though the backing vocals seem to have the most impact in creating the identity of this song. You could imagine this song being played over shots of Dublin in a Sally Rooney adaptation, or in the background while a character looks out of the bus window in a contemplative moment. Sehruhtonin’s work is conducive to this sort of reflective mood.

She is certainly developing her own unique sound, which has been exciting to watch, and I’m hoping to see some adventurous departures and risks taken on the next project.
