Alex Blyth shares latest single ‘Wish I Knew’.

Born in Reading, UK to South African parents, and moving to Adelaide, Australia when she was 8, artist/songwriter Alex Blyth has a complicated answer to the question ‘Where are you from?'. Now London-based after moving back alone last year at only 19, Alex first started writing songs at age 11.

With a notes folder brimming with stories and thousands of voice memos for new songs on her phone, she is known for staying up as late as 2am, crafting personal, diary-like lyrics and melodies. Calling songwriting her therapy and drawing inspiration from artists like Adele and Julia Michaels, Alex blends introspective lyrics with anthemic, catchy melodies to create songs that resonate deeply and stick in your head.

Alex's new single, "Wish I Knew," is an ode to the vulnerability and volatility of life and love. The lyrics, drawn from Alex's personal experience of being in a new place without the person you love, resonate deeply on a personal level. Beneath the immaculate production and anthemic chorus lies a sense of resolution and confidence. This new direction and era truly showcase Alex's prowess not only as a writer but as a storyteller.

Releasing her debut track at 16, Alex has since travelled the world, sharing her music in New York, Nashville, LA, and London. Her song "Miss You a Little Less" ranked in the top 40 of the Vanda and Young Global Songwriting Competition, standing out among some of Australia's best artists and songwriters. Alex's voice was also featured on the summer 2023 season of Love Island UK with the track "Fallout." Her latest release, "Wish I Knew," tells the story of her solo travels and couch-surfing in London at 18, grappling with homesickness. Interestingly, the song includes her mum's laugh hidden in the bridge. With a wealth of new music and live shows on the horizon, Alex is definitely an artist to watch in 2024.
