Pablo Brooks looks to get physical on ‘Body’.
Pablo Brooks is fast becoming the underrated king of earworm pop hits. That’s particularly impressive since he’s in a self-proclaimed ‘2006 Lindsay Lohan meltdown era’.
The 21-year-old is handling his quarter-life crisis in the best way - by heading to the club. On latest single ‘Body’, Brooks looks for connection through the physical as he knocks back drinks and seeks nameless hook-ups.
“Say my name, don’t hold it back,” Brooks teases as the song whirrs into life. It’s impossible not to draw comparisons with last year’s Troye Sivan’s summer smash ‘Rush’ as the singer lays out his carnal desires.
The follow-up track to ‘Never Really Over’, the rising German star continues his new era with a switch-up in sound. Where April’s single took inspiration from a house party blaring noughties Timbaland hits, ‘Body’ sounds fresh from 2024 with its trendy synths and club-ready production.
When previewing ‘Never Really Over’ earlier this year, the songwriter was left with followers pleading for an earlier release date thanks to its cathartic chorus - and the full track didn’t disappoint. Brooks clearly has his hands on the recipe for an infectious pop hit.
That knack is back again on ‘Body’ - the track is at its most catchy over a rallying chorus call of, ‘You could try and love me, love me, love me’. That refrain is begging to come to life at a live show and, if this is what a Pablo Brooks crisis sounds like, we want whatever he’s having.
