Relive the thrill of new love in Johnny Murrell’s latest release, ‘308 Bowery’.

Tulsa-based singer-songwriter, Johnny Murrell is back with his latest single titled, ‘308 Bowery’, set to be released on Friday, August 9th.

Originating from Oklahoma, Johnny Murrell’s music is a fusion of Tulsa soul and New York rock ‘n’ roll. His singing and songwriting are deeply influenced by the iconic artists he grew up listening to—legends like Elton John, Jimi Hendrix, Jackson Browne, Carole King, The Doors, Simon & Garfunkel, Frank Sinatra, and Elvis. These influences have left an indelible mark on his musical style, which resonates strongly in his latest work.

The third single from the album, ‘308 Bowery,’ narrates a love story that you can’t help but sway to. With its blend of bluesy-pop piano chords, tenor vocals, and Queen-inspired guitar riffs, it offers a perfect mix of sweet and powerful hooks, capturing the exhilaration of falling in love. The vibrant horn section, along with the soulful vocals and compelling piano riffs, turns '308 Bowery' into a love song that captures the essence of joy and passion.

Murrell expands on the track itself, “When I first moved to NYC, I dove headfirst into the city’s vibrant chaos. It was those first few years that New Yorkers say make or break a newcomer. I had started a band called Robbing Johnny and I was working numerous gigs; retail, serving at an Italian spot in Harlem, bar backing at multiple venues. You know, anything to pay the rent. Despite the whirlwind of those early years, love found a way to sneak into my life. That first real love, that's where this new song was born.”

Murrell continues, “It captures that electric period. The title pays homage to the Bowery Poetry Club, where all the magic happened. It was in this dazzling place that I met the story's leading lady. The song isabout finding such a beautiful love in a crazy city, and being willing to do anything to keep it alive.”

After finishing a month-long residency at the Mercury Lounge in Tulsa, Murrell is hitting the road this summer. To celebrate the release of his latest single, he’ll be playing a handful of shows in Los Angeles, New York City and even a few back in his home state of Oklahoma. Give ‘308 Bowery’ a listen here:
